These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of the Aware Neighbors website at www.awareneighbors.com (the “Site”) and your participation in the Aware Neighbors program, including our text-messaging (SMS) program. Aware Neighbors is a program of Westside Coalition, Inc., a California 501(c)(4) organization. By using the Site, enrolling in the program, or opting in to receive text messages, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site or opt in to messaging.
Not an Emergency Service; Not Affiliated with LAFD
In an emergency, call 911. Aware Neighbors is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD), the City of Los Angeles, or any other public safety, emergency-response, or government agency. The Site, the program, and any text messages are provided for general informational and program-coordination purposes only and must not be relied upon to make emergency, life-safety, evacuation, or other time-critical decisions. Do not use the Site or our messages in place of official emergency communications, alerts, or the instructions of first responders. Always call 911 or follow official guidance in an emergency.
Program Eligibility
The Aware Neighbors program is intended for eligible residents in participating areas and for individuals over the age of 18. Eligibility, availability, and program details may change and are subject to the descriptions provided on the Site.
SMS / Text-Messaging Program
By providing your mobile phone number and checking the consent box on our opt-in form (or otherwise expressly opting in), you agree to receive recurring automated text (SMS) messages from Aware Neighbors at the number provided. Consent is not a condition of any purchase or of program participation.
- Program description: Messages relate to the Aware Neighbors program — including eligibility, device-request confirmations, pickup-event details and reminders, and program updates.
- Message frequency: Message frequency varies.
- Cost:Message and data rates may apply, depending on your mobile carrier and plan. Aware Neighbors does not charge for the messages, but your carrier’s standard rates apply.
- HELP: Reply HELP at any time for help, or contact us at info@awareneighbors.com.
- STOP / opt-out: Reply STOP at any time to cancel. After you send STOP, we will send a single confirmation message and you will no longer receive text messages from us unless you opt in again.
- Supported carriers: Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
- Privacy: No mobile information (including your phone number and text-messaging opt-in consent) will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. See our Privacy Policy for how we handle your information.
