- Pickup Person Information: If you designate another individual to pick up your device, we collect their name and email address for notification purposes.
- Consent and Preference Data: We collect your preferences regarding receiving information about future Aware Neighbors programs, Friends of West LA (FOWLA) news, allowing LAPD to know about your camera in case of a crime, and allowing us to inform your Homeowners Association (HOA) about your Aware Neighbors fulfillment. We also record your agreement to terms regarding WiFi presence, self-installation responsibility, and our privacy policy.
- Unsubscribe Status: We record your preference to unsubscribe from our communications.
- Communications: When you contact us via email or through our Site, we collect any additional information you voluntarily provide, including your name and any information included in your message.

- Device Generated Information: We do not collect, nor do we have access to, any data generated by devices we provide under the Aware Neighbors program. This includes audio, video, events or alerts generated by the devices.
- Device Account Information: We do not collect, nor do we have access to, any account information you may have provided to a device manufacturer including username, email address, password or phone number.
We request that you do not provide the above information to us. If you voluntarily provide such information to us, we will promptly delete it and you are advised to change any user name and/or password you may have provided to us.

SMS / Text Messaging
If you provide your mobile phone number and opt in, Aware Neighbors may send you text (SMS) messages related to the Aware Neighbors program — such as eligibility, device-request confirmations, pickup-event details and reminders, and program updates. Your consent to receive text messages is not a condition of any purchase or of program participation.
- Message frequency: Message frequency varies.
- Message and data rates: Message and data rates may apply, depending on your mobile carrier and plan.

- Opt out: Reply STOP at any time to stop receiving text messages. After you send STOP, we may send a single confirmation message.
- No sharing of mobile data: No mobile information (including your phone number and text-messaging opt-in consent) will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.

Automated License Plate Recognition (ALPR) Cameras
Testing and Deployment
The Automated License Plate Recognition (ALPR) cameras may be deployed on a test basis for a limited duration of 1 to 14 days. During this testing phase, the primary purpose is to evaluate the system’s functionality and coverage to better serve community safety needs.
Data Access and Usage
- Limited Access: Only one designated Aware Neighbors staff member has access to the data collected during the testing phase.
- No Sharing or Selling: ALPR data is not shared or sold under any circumstances.
- Police Access: ALPR data is not automatically shared with law enforcement. However, in the event of a crime occurring during the testing phase, Aware Neighbors may grant one-time access to law enforcement, strictly limited to an active investigation.
Data Protection

Retention and Deletion
Data collected during the testing phase is retained only as long as necessary to achieve the objectives of the test. At the conclusion of the testing period, all data will be securely deleted unless otherwise required for a specific investigation or legal obligation.
